A small tree up to 4 m high with a round, dense branched crown. Leaves broad ovoid, often lobed or even broken (heterophilia). Blooms in May at the same time as the leaves bloom. Fruits similar to raspberries, edible, white, greenish-white or purple. It should be planted in well-drained, calcareous soils in full sun, although it tolerates partial shading.
