Summer or evergreen prickly shrubs. Grow in dry, sunny places, in moderately rich, water-permeable soils. Moderately fast-growing, good at shaping. Due to the gorgeous foliage and various shapes, barberry is widely used both as solitaires in greenery to create bright accents, as well as to create gorgeous hedges. The flowers, depending on the species, are arranged in hanging bunches, bouquets, or one by one. The flowers are pale yellow in clusters from 1 to 5. Fruits - berries, edible. Expanded, tightly branched. The leaves are dark purple from spring. Does not tolerate shading and excess soil moisture. Often used for hedges. Suitable for city conditions.
