Amur Lilac /Syringa Amurensis/
Amur lilac is a tree that can reach a height of up to 20 m in its homeland. It often occurs as a 5-8 m tall shrub. The skin of not very old trunks is reddish-brown, shiny, similar to cherry-tree. The young shoots are dark gray, bare, with light oval lenticels, very thin, mostly hanging under the weight of the leaves.
Blooming leaves greenish-purple or with a reddish border. Later they turn green on the surface, matte, but light green on the underside. Inflorescences are formed at the ends of short shoots from the apex buds. Flowers 5-8 mm in diameter, creamy white, with honey aroma, in shape.
Blooms in late June - early July. Flowering duration 15-20 days.
Winter-hardy, sufficiently drought-resistant species, grows well in loose, air-permeable soils. The species tolerates air pollution well, so it is good for landscaping.
