In the wild grows in southern Europe. Shrub close to the ground, up to 20 cm high and 80 cm wide. Branches with five grooves, green, leaves simple 0.8-2 cm long, hairy, flowers yellow, 1-3 leaves in branches in the length of the whole branch, blooms in May, June. It winters well under the snow. Suitable for planting in rock gardens, slopes, neutral calcareous soils.
