Tree up to 16 m high with a relatively regular oval crown that reaches a diameter of 4 m. The needles are bluish green, arranged in bouquets of five. Usually 6-7 cm long egg-shaped cones with edible seeds - the so-called cedar nuts. A relatively hardy species that can be successfully grown in urban areas. Calcareous soil is desirable.
