A strong, summer-green liana that reaches a length of 18 - 25 m in Japan and Taiwan. They like to grow on old, rotten trees. young plants need support while the air roots become active. They grow slowly for a few years after planting, but later accelerate. Shoots are strongly branched, relatively fragile. Foliage dark green, shiny, turns yellow in autumn. Flowers are light green with some large, white flowers on the sides. Inflorescences up to 20 cm. Flowering begins in June. After flowering, the inflorescences turn brown and remain so throughout the winter. Can be planted next to the walls or used as a ground cover plant. Trimming and crowning are not required for these hydrangeas.
